Skin Moisturizers for Dry Skin

Water is the ultimate moisturizer for your body but sometimes you need a little extra to put on top of skin for an extra boost.  The dry skin products described below are all excellent moisturizer choices.  Find the one that will work best for you.

Emu Oil – Great anti-inflammatory oil that is perfect for dry irritated skin.  Emu oil goes right through all skin layers and is non-comedogenic so you won’t have to worry about emu oil causing clogged pores if you use it on your face.  It is extremely moisturizing and results are soft, supple skin.  It also contains incredibly healing properties and can be used for allergic reactions.  Great for using for hair and dry scalp too.

Olive Oil Cleansing Method – That’s right, washing your face with olive oil.  It’s a great way of implementing the qualities of olive oil into the skin.  It’s very effective for acne sufferers and can be used for dry skin issues as well.  Read more about the Olive Oil Face Washing technique.

Pure Unrefined Shea Butter – Incredibly moisturizing.  You have unrefined white shea butter and unrefined yellow shea butter.  The white form is the most pure form with nothing added to it and the yellow form contains palm oil that gives it the yellow color. Don’t worry, both are great for dry skin repair.  Stay away from refined shea butter because it contains chemicals and the natural healing properties have been taken away.  Shea butter should have a slight nutty smell and be firm but creamy when smashed.

Jojoba oil – This oil is most similar to our own natural sebum and is happily absorbed by the skin. It is very light and won’t leave a heavy, greasy feeling on your face.

Coconut oilCoconut oil is another oil that is easily absorbed in skin.  It is also very light and has a slight tropical, nutty smell.  Stick with extra virgin coconut oil (EVCO) to ensure you get all of the great skin healing properties of this oil.  Using coconut oil will leave your skin smooth and hydrated and may even give you a healthy, bronze glow!  Perfect for combating dry itchy skin and eczema.
